On 13-14 October, a team of "Youth can" students and alumni - Emilius Lukoševičius, Džiugas Arštikaitis, and Viktorija Sujetaitė - took part in the social hackathon SMARTUOLIAI.
The team not only experienced the startup lifestyle but also had the opportunity to learn from mentors and experts who are in the business world.
Children and youth in Lithuania face many challenges: anxiety, burnout, exclusion, bullying, etc. The past years have shown how important it is to nurture mental and emotional well-being.
That is why this year's social hackathon aims to promote emotional intelligence among children and young people in Lithuania.
The team of "Youth Can" also presented their idea at the hackathon - an app that encourages schoolchildren to recognize, name, and manage their emotions.
On the first day, participants listened to topical presentations and took part in creative workshops and familiarization games. Later, expert mentors shared their insights and helped develop participants' ideas.
The second day was dedicated to designing solutions and preparing for the final presentations of their ideas - "pitches".
We are delighted with the students' activeness, initiative, and desire to improve and create a brighter tomorrow!
Participants' impressions:
"It was really beneficial to participate. It felt incredible to overcome the challenges, to improve, to feel part of the team..." - Emilius.
"It's still hard to believe how much you can learn in just two days. This experience has given me priceless emotions, motivation, self-confidence and a lot of valuable experience." - Džiugas.
"I think our biggest strength was understanding what it means to be a team. We knew how to listen to each other, make joint decisions, and use our existing and newly acquired knowledge. " - Viktorija.
